"Winning isn't everything, but wanting it is." -Arnold Palmer, Legendary American Golfer, Arnold Palmer books//
Everyone I know wants to be a winner at something. Some want to be known for winning at work, others for winning at home. Some want to be champion athletes, others award-winning writers. Some want to be successful entrepreneurs, others well-known community members. People want to win because it makes them feel significant. The problem is that most people are too focused on the 'winning' and not the 'wanting,' to which Palmer alludes. In reality, winning is a nice bonus and tremendous boost to our self-esteem, but it's like eating candy - it tastes good for the moment, but you're hungry again in an hour. The desire to win, or wanting to pursue victory, is a character trait that motivates people to achieve - it's what gets them in the game to begin with, and as the slogan goes, "You can't win if you don't play." The want to win, therefore, is the thing that people need most in order to succeed and attain meaningful feelings of significance in life.

we all want to win ... who doesn't but then in a fair deal do we get to taste the real sweet victory
I've always found that the sweetest victories are those hardest fought to achieve! Don't you agree?
