Opportunities Make Work Fun

"Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work." -Thomas Edison, American Inventor, Thomas Edison books//

Work should be fun, but I guess if it were then it would be called pleasure. Is there a difference, though, between work and pleasure? Yes, of course; but, not in the way that Edison describes - they require equal effort. Recognizing opportunities when they arise is exciting, and most people are highly motivated during the initial phase of acting upon something new to benefit their lives. They are gung ho, full speed ahead working at it for the first few days or weeks, but when the reality sets in that the opportunity will require serious effort on their part to come to fulfillment, attitudes change from excitement to indolence. You would think that efforts known, or hoped, to produce a positive result in one's life would inspire a modicum of stick-to-it-tiveness, but such is not the case. Instead, opportunities found are frequently lost, due to lack of will, discipline or inspiration to carry them to completion. Laziness is usually too strong a word to describe why most people don't reap the benefits of opportunities initially acted upon - lack of discipline or focus, the absence of motivation or inspiration, loss of vision or clarity and the lack of positivity or patience are more commonly to blame. For some reason, when people begin to frame their actions as "work" though, their attitude and actions change, in spite of the fact that the amount of effort exerted to move on to the next opportunity is equal to what is needed to bring the current opportunity to a beneficial end. Work and pleasure are two sides of the same coin, so if you don't like the way it looks then simply flip it over. You can cash in on the opportunities in your life by taking pleasure in the work that brings them to fruition. Working on opportunities is as fun as you want to make it!
